Hijabers Alert! Simple Indie Styles for College

Some simple-indie-style inspirations for hijabers as daily college outfit

Most of Indonesian female are using hijab and i believe everyone of them has their own personal references. I find a lot of hijaber celebrities that really stylish and high-fashion, they're serving such A-look for the public.

But sometimes, common people doesn't really fit in on those styles, like it couldn't be used for daily basis. Too much outer layers (most of them are usually made by chiffon, wolfis, sateen), so freaking troublesome to prepare, very easy to tangle, and sometimes it's not realistic for such a weather. Indonesia, especially Jakarta could reach until 32°C and yes when you go outside you would be drained in sweat unless you spent your time mostly in AC room. For Indonesian college student, it's requires too much effort on how to look like celebrity hijaber 24/7 without getting any mess.

So basically i don't know what kind of style is indie. I name it on myself, cause i feel like it more basic, yet not really mainstream and not really takes too much effort, and not too girly. It's kind of classic and old-school kinda thing, but not really old-fashion. I have a bestfriend that really fit on such a style, her name is Ciko you guys follow her on instagram: @cikopdlh her feed is aesthetically pleasing. Here we go!

If y'all comfortable for wearing an outer, first, a basic black outer is necessary when in doubt.

And a white T-shirt is absolutely on-the-go! But please don't put a very tight T-shirt with an outer, that is what urban and rural hijaber distinguished. As always, avoid more graphic on T-shirt, keep it minimal or plain. You can pair them with jeans or just a basic cotton pants. Im not really good at picking hijab color but i guess neutral plain color would be better than patterned hijab when you're going to college. I think it's more young and classy.

Next, still utilizing outer, an oversize denim jacket is my favorite.

Oversize denim jacket is an outer you can die with. I don't really like a standard denim jacket, there's nothing special about it. I know some petite female out there are not really into oversize jacket because maybe it makes you look shorter, but believe me as long as you're not wearing culotte pants with oversize jacket, you won't shrink in. And when you're wearing a denim outer, avoid wearing denim pants too.... that would be denim-on-denim. For a little tip, i think when you synchronize your T-shirt and hijab color.. that would be safer.

Next, a little bit classic outer! If you're ready being a center of attention tho, cause it's totally tubular~ (have you watched Stranger Things?)

A mom jeans and classic patterned shirt as an outer is a breakthrough. You can randomly pick any pattern color for the shirt as long as you're wearing a plain black inner T-shirt. When you have a petite body or kinda plus-size body i suggest you to avoid boyfriend jeans or any jeans that on the waist-level. Pick a standard or mom jeans in a medium to high waist level. Mom jeans is kinda boyfriend jeans but not too baggy and not too loose, it's just straight and not too tight, it's perfect for hijaber i guess.

"But i dont really like wearing outer...." That's okay! Ciko also had that days when she's toooooo lazy to wear any outer.

A long-sleeve T-shirt is automatically in mind when you're lazy wearing an outer. I think stripe T-shirt would be an alternative idea when you dont have a minimal graphic or plain T-shirt. Sometimes, some people would like to wear knitted sweater or a hoodie, it's actually fine when it's combine with denim pants. But i think when you're wearing a cotton pants... wouldn't it be too much? And that white sneakers is my favorite item when it comes to stripe T-shirt.

"What if i ran out of long-sleeve T-shirt and all i have is short-sleeve T-shirt? and again, im tooooo lazy wearing an outer" yes, sometimes it's a dilemma for hijabers and few people might cancel their plan to going anywhere..... just because..... they ran out of cloths. That's why hijaber needs a bunch of plain black inner T-shirt!

The simplest effortless style to go. You can put any color short-sleeve T-shirt combine with black inner. If you decided to wear a colorful T-shirt, white or black sneakers is automatically could be a balance for the color. Also, a small black belt would be a supporting item to not make your style looks so mainstream.

Yes, that's all folks. I remind you once again that im not a fashion enthusiast, not a fashion student, fashion stylist, fashion designer, or have any knowledge about fashion industry. Nope. I just wanna share my references and ideas. All decisions within your hands. Those are just my two cents. And i hope it might inspire you. Thank you Ciko for being an indie hijaber rolemodel.
